The organization of the 44th Japan Academy Film Prize recently announced that the mangaka and character designer Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, known for his work on Mobile Suit Gundam, will soon receive a major Lifetime Achievement Award, reserved only for the best Japanese artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The Japan Academy Film Award is considered the Japanese Oscar and is the highest form of recognition for products and characters related to the entertainment world in the East.
