Knights of Sidonia: The Star That Love Is Spun, the sequel to the anime by Polygon Pictures, was postponed due to the inconvenience caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The new release date in theaters is set for June 4th, but the study does not rule out further postponements should the government decide to extend the state of emergency.
Knights of Sidonia is an anime based on Tsutomu Nihei’s manga that was serialized in Kodansha’s monthly afternoon from April 2009 to September 2015. The anime adaptation consists of two seasons with 12 episodes and adapts 9 volumes of the manga from a total of 15 available. Knights of Sidonia: The Star That Love Is Spun, the follow-up film to be released this year will not continue the implementation. but it will tell a new original story written by Nihei himself.
Not many details of the plot are known at this time, but the author has indicated The film takes place ten years after the anime series finished and that most of the characters will return in this sequel as well. Polygon Pictures has confirmed that staff, performers and composers will return to their roles and that the electronic music duo CAPSULE will create a musical theme for the film.
