A few days ago, we told you about the possible arrival of a new anime project linked to the fantasy of Junji Ito, in addition to the already confirmed Uzumaki anime due for release in 2021. Recently, the author unexpectedly shared details on this project and revealed the production of a collection-inspired adaptation Junji Ito Masterworks Collection.
The announcement comes straight from the pages of Genkai Chitai, the manga by Junji Ito known in Italy called The Phantom Zone and in the process of serialization from the second half of 2020. The author revealed this Ito Junji Kesssaku-shu (Junji Ito Masterworks Collection in the West) is about to become an anime without anticipating details about the animation studio, series structure and release date.
There The Junji Ito Masterworks Collection is a collection of horror It consists of 11 volumes published from 2011 to 2013. The collection contains some of the best stories in the mangaka that already received an anime adaptation in the first quarter of 2018, consisting of 12 episodes (plus two OVA) and published by Studio Deen and distributed in the west by Crunchyroll, entitled Junji Ito collection.
The new anime series will likely be similar, with each of the stories being adapted in one or two episodes for a total of six or seven different mini-stories in season one. Further details will be announced in the following months.
