On the official Twitter account for the anime adaptation by Jashin-chan Dropkick (Dropkick on my devil!) two press releases were issued reporting two matters of “extreme importance” to the production. In the first, they reported that they will allow the creation of “secondary content” (that is, the publication of fragments of the episodes of the series) on platforms such as YouTube, Niconico Video and others.

In fact, the production communicates that they will receive half of the earnings from the videos that use the production footage, while the other half would logically belong to the content creator. More importantly, however, is the second statement, which informs about plans to produce a fourth season, which will be dependent on fan participation.

The statement in question wrote:

  • An entire season of television animation costs about 300 million yen (just over $2 million) to produce. Currently, the “Jashin-chan Dropkick” committee is unable to raise these funds. Therefore, the first challenge is to produce an OVA (original video animation not aired on television) as part of a fundraiser, which has already been done three times.
  • One episode will be produced with a target amount of 30 million yen (over US$207,000), and one episode will be added for every additional 30 million yen. The episode or episodes created will not be televised but will be delivered at events and through syndication.
  • And we would like to continue this initiative in the future for multiple installments and one day when all twelve episodes are collected, collect them all and broadcast as TV animation “Jashin-chan Dropkick Season 4”. This great project is the culmination of the previous work of the production committee with a large number of events planned in the company of fans.

Summary for Jashin-chan Dropkick

The demon Jashin-chan was summoned to earth by Yurine Hanazono, a girl with a gift for the occult. Unfortunately, Yurine doesn’t really know how to send Jashin-chan back to Hell. Now stuck on Earth, she is forced to live in Yurine’s apartment as her confidante. The only way for Jashin-chan to return would be to kill her summoner, but that’s easier said than done for the incompetent demoness. Since Jashin-chan is immortal and able to regenerate her body, Yurine does not hesitate to attack her with a variety of weapons and punish her in horrible ways for her evil plans. Jashin-chan is also often visited by her demonic friends: the good-natured gorgon Medusa and the energetic minotaur Minosu, who in contrast appear much more polite and disapprove of her plans to kill Yurine.
