The most famous character born from the pencil of legendary cartoonist Mike Mignola is about to make his return: Hellboy will star in a Dark Horse Comics one-shot entitled Hellboy and the BPRD: Old Man Whittier. Artist Gabriel Hernández Walta accompanies Mignola in the production of this one-shot.

With the release of Hellboy and the BPRD: Old Man WhittierMignola, who previously denounced the sale of unauthorized Hellboy NFTs, is picking up the threads of a story published in 2010. This one shot is indeed Sequel to the short story Hellboy: The Whittier Legacy.

Sometimes my brain won’t make a story go away“said Mignola.”I introduced the Whittier family in 2010 but the story didn’t end there, especially when I heard about the opportunity to work with the amazing artist Gabriel Hernández Walta“.

Drawing this Hellboy one-shot is a dream come true“Walta added.”I’ve been a fan of Mike’s work for over thirty years and to have the opportunity to work with him and the Hellboy team is just amazing. I also had the opportunity to draw an old house with cobwebs, ghosts, snakes and a charismatic red demon in a raincoat… What more could you ask for?“.

Hellboy and the BPRD: Old Man Whittier is out on June 22nd in the US. However, the main cover of the album is done by Walta a variant of Mignola is also released. We share both covers below.

Speaking of Hellboy, Ron Perlman recently asked Guillermo Del Toro to complete the film saga.
