Gainax loses the copyright to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Simon and Kamina were born and raised in a deep underground village hidden from the legendary surface. One day, while digging the earth, Simon comes across a mysterious object that turns out to be the ignition key for an ancient war artifact that the duo call Lagann. With their new weapon, Simon and Kamina defend themselves against a surprise attack from the surface with the help of Yoko Littner, a hot-blooded redhead who carries a massive weapon that roams the world above.

After the battle, the sky is now in sight, causing Simon and Kamina to take Yoko on a trip to explore the surface debris. Soon they will join the fight against the "beastmen", humanoid creatures who terrorize the remains of humanity in powerful robots called "armed men". Despite facing some challenges and setbacks, the trio bravely fight these new enemies along with fellow survivors to reclaim the surface as they slowly unravel a galaxy-sized mystery.
