Irish artist Syephen Bryne, known for publications such as the Legion of Superheroes, WonderTwins, Mera: Tideabreaker, Justice Leauge / Power Rangers and Green Arrow, has published tables of a hypothetical crossover between the Marvel and DC Comics.

So far the characters Bryne has compared are Superman, Iron Man, Wonder Woman, Thor and Batman. In recent weeks, numerous fans of the two editorial giants have ventured into the creation of fan art featuring both Marvel and DC characters.

Fantastic Four and Uncanny Avengers designer Sean Izaakse was the engine of this initiative, then pass the ball to other artists in the sector. This collective contribution has been of great help to comics and physical retailers in general, who suffered a severe backlash from Coronavirus.

The idea of ​​a crossover has already been explored in the past by publishing houses; the first time in 1996, DC vs Marvel Comics, written by Peter David and Ron Marz with drawings by Dan Jurgens and Claudio Castellini. Notable clashes include Superman vs Hulk, Spider-Man vs Superboy, Batman vs Captain America, Wolverine vs Lobo and Storm vs Wonder Woman.

The most recent, published in 2003/2004, is JLA / Avengers by Kurt Busiek. One of the striking moments of the crossover saw Superman wield Thor’s hammer and Captain America’s shield.
