In recent years, the Japanese publisher Shueisha has decided to focus heavily on digital, and for this reason launched the magazine Shonen Jump +. Usable via the app, there have already been many titles that have made it, such as the award-winning Spy x family. The new title can soon be added to the list Dandadan by Tatsu Yukinobu.
The mangaka was formerly the assistant to Tatsuki Fujimoto, writer of Fire Punch and Chainsaw Man, and Yuji Kaku, writer of Jigokuraku. For the past few months he has been working alone and has brought the new manga Dandadan to Shonen Jump +, now two chapters about the Shueisha app.
The story follows a girl and a nerd, the former who doesn’t believe in aliens and the latter who doesn’t believe in ghosts. Your encounter with these special creatures will trigger a series of bizarre events that they will face together. Left a few weeks ago, Dandadan has already seen over a million hits on Shonen Jump +.
A huge number that is already leading him to success. At the moment, Dandadan has not yet reached the virality of Monster # 8, but remains on track and could become a new unexpected hit for Shueisha and its digital magazine which are gaining more and more market. At the moment, Dandadan is only available in Japanese while we wait for MangaPlus to arrive in the west.
A new challenger rises in Jump +. Dandadan (by Yukinobu Tatsu, ex-assistant to Tatsuki Fujimoto and Yuuji Kaku) has exceeded 1 million views in its first two chapters after publication. Seems like J + got its big bombshell from 2021 (shame it’s not in Mangaplus). pic.twitter.com/08A0u2vlh3
