When a person thinks about it The attack of the giants, probably first thinks of the cruelty and brutality of the world created by Hajime Isayama. Eren Jaeger’s quest for freedom is punctuated by deaths and suffering of various kinds, with many bitter disappointments. There were few oases of calm and peace.

These oases underscored the author’s desire not to focus in the slightest on romantic contexts. During the plot of Attack of the Giants, Isayama never inserted love scenes that weren’t a specific look, a short and detailed sentence, or just a mentioned moment.

But it was a conscious decision do not include romantic moments in Attack of the Giants? Apparently yes, because it’s the author himself who gives it away. In an interview with Crunchyroll, Isayama explained various things about his creative process, from Eren’s disappearance during the time warp to this love question he’s answering.

“First, I’m embarrassed to write stories about love between characters. The other reason is that if I continued to follow these tangential directions in the story, we risked losing focus on the main storyline. So I wasn’t very motivated to go in that direction.”

Essentially only i some moments granted three times to Eren and Mikasa, which are an integral part of the story, seem rather romantic, although the atmosphere that gripped the two of them at that moment wasn’t the best, on the contrary. Even so, Hajime Isayama had had a certain feeling watching Eren and Mikasa kiss for a while.
