During the Wanokuni saga in ONE PIECEEiichiro Oda has incorporated many references to the Japanese world. On the other hand, many islands have a specific theme related to a real country. And for Wanokuni, that topic could only be Japan.
Because of this, there were a lot of Japanese references between theater and more during the saga. And with the end of chapter 996 of ONE PIECE, Oda added another scene that brings us back to a typical comic book sequence.
In fact, there is a comic strip gag that is common in Japanese theatrical performances when a man pulls on the obi or the sash that doubles as a belt for a woman’s kimono while holding the dress in place without loosening it. Consequently, The man takes off the woman of her dress.
The lines of this comic curtain unfold as described and for this reason Sanji understands what is happening: He has a woman in mind who is about to undress over him. and that’s why he was shocked.
Did you know this special gag from the Japanese theater? And will this woman cause a change in the trio’s plans in the next chapter of ONE PIECE? On the other hand, if you want to be stunned, check out this cosplay from Boa Hancock.
For those who didn’t understand this last scene, it’s a one-on-one reference to a gag from Japanese theater in which a man undresses a woman by pulling on her obi (kimono sash). So Sanji literally hears a woman undress and stay naked# onepiece996 pic.twitter.com/GaeBmDqDZr
