Shingo adachi, Character designer and animation director of the multimedia franchise of Sword art online Yes Work !! (Wagnaria !!) announced that he will make his directorial debut with the original anime Lycoris recoil, which is scheduled to premiere in Japan in 2022. Adachi commented on this:
«I realized that being a director is an awkward position forcing people to do things I can't do myself, so I figured I'd start by making sure the staff were responsive to my requests react, at least be able to remember their time with joy, something that takes effort, not talent. If just one other person says, "I love it," everyone will smile and I'll do my best to do it. Also, I don't want to be called "Director" or "Big Boss", so please call me "Adachi-san" as before.».
