The platforms crispy roll issued a statement detailing changes to the “Support for displaying ads“, that is, the access to see the episodes of anime series a week after their broadcast with commercials. In summary, the statement emphasized that this option will no longer be available from the Spring 2022 season (April-June):
«With the Spring 2022 season and future seasonal releases, Crunchyroll will update our offering of simulcast titles by subscription tier. It is necessary to have a monthly or annual premium subscription to be able to see the new simulcasts and those that continue. With the exception of the titles mentioned below, We will no longer offer the option to watch simulcasts a week later and with ads. As with ongoing series, the ad-supported viewing option will no longer be available for new episodesjust like the spring season, although previously released episodes will still be available to all users».

«To showcase our new seasonal simulcasts, we’re offering the first episodes of a selection of titles as a “Season Preview” with free viewing for a limited time. In the Spring 2022 season, users will be able to simulcast the first three episodes of these titles for free with ads: “SPY x FAMILY“, “A couple of cuckoos“, “Dawn of the Witch“, “Tomodachi game“, “Skeleton Knights in another world“, “Shikimori is not just a cutie“, “The greatest demon lord is reborn as a typical nobody” and “Trapped in a dating sim: the world of otome games is tough on mobs“».
«The first three episodes of these Spring 2022 titles will be available for free and ad-supported to subscribers a week after their premiere and through May 31. Subscription is required for all episodes of the seasonal sampler after this date. We want to encourage as many fans as possible to explore new series and discover all the benefits of premium access to Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll offers hundreds of hours of content for free viewing through our ad-based tier of access, and we will continue to offer free content in the future», concluded the statement.
