The DC Universe wins a new team of superheroes: the Justice League Incarnate, a group that defends the Multiverse. In the first edition of the new series the multiversal Justice League must clash with the Retaliators, the DC Comics equivalent of Marvel’s Avengers.
If the trailer for The Flash opens to the multiverse in the films dedicated to the DC Comics heroes, the multiverse is an already established concept in the comics. In the new relaunch of the DC Universe Infinite Frontier, the Multiverse plays a leading role. Hence the debut of the new Justice League Incarnate series, the first issue of which will be published on November 30, 2021.
The presence of the Retaliators in the preview of this first edition is certainly more surprising: a group of metahumans from Earth-8, represents the DC version of the Avengers. The Retaliators consist of American Crusader (Captain America), Behemoth (Hulk), Deadeye (Hawkeye), Red Dragon (Black Widow), Wundajin (Thor) and Machinehead (Iron Man). This isn’t the group’s first appearance: the Retaliators, created by Grant Morrison and Ivan Reis, made their Multiversity debut in 2014.
The inspiration behind the Retaliators is never hidden by Dennis Culver, Joshua Williamson and Brandon Peterson, writers of Justice League Incarnate # 1. The Retaliators even have a rallying cry, “Retribution rampage!“that sounds like”Avengers unite! However, Marvel has nothing to complain about: In the universe of Spider-Man and his staff, the Supreme Squadron actually operates, which is nothing more than the Marvel version of the Justice League. In short, even and draw.
Not only does the Justice League have the Retaliators to fear, but it also has to keep its eyes open on the gaming front: Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League is already on Steam, even though it’s slated for a generic 2022 release.
